Behind the Innovation: Brainpower of Executives and Professionals
This project is a fusion of expertise to solve
city-level problems, taking innovation from the classroom to reality by the Ex-MBA program, Chiang Mai University, which utilized Design Thinking to develop a prototype of a flameless sky lantern. The national professional standard was delivered by Party Villa Balloons Chiangmai, using advanced balloon-making techniques to create lanterns that flutter beautifully and realistically, while being safe for life and property.
.
The Chiang Mai Tourist Police and Tourist Police Volunteers became part of the co-thinking and supporting team to sustainably solve the problem of fires caused by secretly releasing lanterns in communities, by helping maintain order and building confidence for tourists to have the best possible experience.
.
Tourists will experience the Lanna spirit through tangible activities, wishing for good luck, and a ceremony to pray to “King Mueang Kaeo” and his Queen Mother, the monarchs who created the golden age of Buddhism in Lanna, emphasizing outstanding luck in “love and career.”
.
The Infinite Light Tunnel, a decorative lantern masterpiece crafted by the housewives' group of the Wat Sri Suphan community, generates income back to the community and serves as a spectacular photo landmark that is rare to find.
.
Positive Impacts in Every Dimension (The Synergy): Environmental Dimension – ending the fire hazard in the old city area with flameless innovation. Religious Dimension – weaving the story of King Mueang Kaeo back to life through Buddhist art and contemporary activities. Social Dimension – all income from making decorative lanterns circulates back to the housewives' group in the Wat Sri Suphan community.
.
Activities Begin: February - March 2026, every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 19.00-21.00
Wat Sri Suphan (Wua Lai Road), Chiang Mai Province
.
“This is a collaborative model demonstrating that smart innovation and management can gracefully preserve the value of tradition in the modern world,” the co-organizers stated.
